Veronica Brovall 1975 Falun, Sweden

In her sculptures and installations Veronica Brovall deals with existential questions of human life as well as a wide range of different kinds of fear. She constructs monumental sculptures that on the one hand are very clear with regard to the form, and impressive because of the size. On the other hand, they look in some way ambivalent as they often link seemingly familiar objects in a very strange way.

Specifically with the ceramics; Ceramics for me is clearly connected to interior, living spaces, decoration of the home, kitsch, "bad" taste, working class.

The ceramic material in fact enabled me to go very far in a sort of anti-esthetical, raw, non correct, anti decorative direction, because in the process I found that the material itself demanded such an attack in order for it to feel like my work. In my work I have always strived for directness, violence and absurdity.
